Born 1961 in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, Frantz Lamothe is a self-taught artist.
He moves to New York City at the age of six, running away from the Haitian dictatorship. There, while spending his youth in the streets, he is introduced to the new world of street art and graffiti.
Under the alias Freddy and influenced by his raw and strong emotions, his works, full of vibrant colors pop out and cover surfaces of the whole city.
Fragments of his varied past, such as the violent death of his acolyte Jean-Michel Basquiat or going back to his homeland, nourrish his paintings becoming more sophisticated and complex.
His great journey of finding himself leads him to travel to Europe and Japan where his work is acclaimed.
He currently lives and works in Paris, France.
